Whether you are seeking a hobby and would like to make beautiful gifts and decorative home wares…. or maybe you are a prepper planning to create tools from scrap materials during the downfall of society or the zombie apocalypse, our schools can help get started with an understanding of the processes that are fundamental to all forge work.

Ranging from small intricate jewellery to large items such as furniture and gates, your imagination is the only limit to what you can make in the home forge.
Articles produced in the forge can be made to be practical, or to be decorative, but the wonderful thing about blacksmithing is that creations can be both functional and beautiful at the same time!
Blacksmithing can be used to make items solely from iron or as elements of other things such as fittings for your woodwork projects or to provide decorative detail to fabricated steel.

Is your landlord not keen on you having a forge in your apartment but you have the urge to hammer on some hot iron?
Would you like to know how get started in blacksmithing?
Are you already doing some forging, but would like to learn more?
Are you looking for an introduction to the basics before investing in a specialist course such as knife or tool making?

Our schools can be tailored to suit individual requirements and often evolve, led by the questions and needs of participants. Depending on your situation and available time, the school can comprise more or less participation versus demonstration.
Schools can be either held at Maybe Street Forge in the lower Hunter Valley NSW, or if a suitable venue is available, we also may be able to travel to you.

We cover the fundamental processes, of drawing out, upsetting, bending, fullering, punching, cutting as well as maintaining the forge fire, basic tong making and forge welding.
If the school is of a hands-on format, participants may have an opportunity to work on a project of their choosing or otherwise make another small item to take home.
